Event: Free Spay & Neuter Clinic
Date:January 5, 2009 - January 16, 2009
Description:In collaboration with Isla Animals, PEACE Mexico and The Hagenbeck Foundation (Dr. Alejandra Lopez), Dr. Delfino Guevera, Dr. Pepe Vega, and PEACE Isla Mujeres we are happy to announce that we will be hosting a free cat and dog spay/neuter clinic on Isla January 5-16th. Our goal is to help to reduce the stray and unwanted animal population by providing free sterilizations for approx. 200 island animals within these two weeks.

The schedule is as follows:
January 5th will be a set-up & cat trapping day.
January 6-10 the clinic will be held at Dr. Delfino's clinic in Salina Chica
January 12-16 the clinic will be held Dr. Pepe's clinic in La Gloria
The clinics will operate from 8am to 4:30pm, with animal intake from 8am-1pm

We need volunteers for the following tasks:
1. Animal intake & discharge. We'll need a Spanish speaking person at all times
2. Recovery. These folks will be responsible for monitoring & caring for animals post-surgery, cleaning instruments
3. Vet assistants. Nursing experience would be great but not necessary
4. Animal pick up. Setting cat traps, retrieval, animal transportation
5. Gofers. Doing any odd jobs, cleaning cages, etc.

The clinics will operate from 8am to 4:30pm. Shifts will be 8-12:30; 12:30-5pm. It would be greatly appreciated if volunteers could arrive 15 minutes before their start time. If you can put in a full day or work on more than 1 day, that's great.

If you are able to help, please email or call Laura Clark, volunteer coordinator, asap with your preferred job(s) and days/shifts. 998-274-0026 lauracca2004@hotmail.com

Thank You!!
Outcome:Thanks to all who helped out with the recent Spay/Neuter Clinic! The clinic was a big success, with 153 cats and dogs being spayed or neutered. We would like to thank Dr. Delfino, Dr. Pepe, Dr. Alejandra Lopez and Humberto Cobos from PEACE Mexico for all of their hard work, as well as all of the dedicated volunteers and donors without whom none of this would have been possible.
